Columbian Half Dollar Coin Ring | 90% Silver

The Columbian Half Dollar was minted to commemorate the 400th anniversary of Christopher Columbus's first voyage to the Americas and to support the World's Columbian Exposition, otherwise known as the 1893 Chicago World's Fair.

Originally intended to sell at a premium to fund the fair, 5 million coins were struck. Demand ultimately fell short - half were melted, and most of the rest entered circulation.
